Fire extinguishers are specially pressurized. If they are improperly disposed of, they have the potential to cause serious harm to workers and equipment, contamination, and fires.
Fire extinguisher canisters should ALWAYS be taken to a special handling facility for safe discharge and disposal, regardless of whether it is empty, expired, or has partial contents inside.
