Omaha Recycling Guide
Parchment Paper
Not Accepted
DO NOT place this item in a City of Omaha curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
Place parchment paper in the garbage, or use an alternative option.
Where Else Could It Go?
Confirm what type of parchment paper you have: Some papers may be labeled as compostable at home, compostable at a commercial composting facility, or both.
Parchment paper can often be composted for free at home, or through a paid program at an industrial-composting facility, such as Hillside Solutions.
If you're not sure whether your paper is compostable, place it in the garbage.
Did You Know
Sometimes parchment paper is coated to make it non-stick, and this coating is difficult to separate from the paper. Parchment paper can also be contaminated with food or grease, but even if clean, it is not easily recycled through traditional methods. To prevent contamination of other recyclables, place this item in the garbage.
