Place a tea bag in the garbage if you cannot compost it.
Where Else Could It Go?
Confirm what type of tea bag you have. Tea bags made from paper or those that are labeled compostable can be composted for free at home, or through a paid program at an industrial-composting facility, such as Hillside Solutions. Before composting, remove metal staples and plastic tags, if applicable.
Look closely, because some tea bags are made from plastic materials, or have plastic seals or parts that cannot be composted. Plastic and non-compostable tea bags should be placed in the garbage.
