Omaha Recycling Guide
Toilet Paper
Not Accepted, Alternative Options Available
DO NOT place this item in a City of Omaha curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
Toilet paper that is not flushed should be placed in the garbage, or composted.
Tip: The toilet paper itself is NOT accepted for recycling, but the empty cardboard core is. Place the inner cardboard core of a toilet paper roll in a curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
Where Else Could It Go?
Unused toilet paper and cardboard cores can often be composted for free at home, or through a paid-program at an industrial-composting facility, such as Hillside Solutions.
Did You Know
Toilet paper is made from a low-grade paper fiber that cannot easily be recycled. To prevent contamination of other recyclables, place this item in the garbage if it is not flushed or used for its intended purpose.
